Currently...

Eldest Kidlet and I are working on getting a Tumblr blog up and running. A nice thing about it is that we can look up the colors used in this blog and actually get the same colors in the Tumblr one. An issue we're having trouble with though is getting my avatar (which I've used since joining Ravelry and is *the* avatar I use) to work with the chosen layout. I suspect that the layout will have to be changed to accommodate the avatar. The fact that my 3 month old PC is experiencing graphic card failure and will have to be replaced and the kids' PC is resisting loading Tumblr for some reason is certainly adding to the "fun" EK is having as chief marketing officer.

Introducing Eldest Kidlet

I am very blessed that my oldest daughter (Eldest Kidlet or EK) is interested in photography, social media, and learning management skills. This works out very well for me as I'm interested in my kids, needlework, teaching, and....not much else really.  In fact, one of my few regrets is having gotten an art degree instead of business or marketing since art classes are much easier to come by later in life. Fortunately, EK has volunteered to manage the social media and photography aspects of starting a business and I am very hopeful that this will greatly improve the reach of Knit'n Kitten studio.

Just so you know,

One of the reasons I began this blog was simply to increase my digital presence as "The Knit'n Kitten". It's a cute (and possibly cutesy) name so it isn't surprising that a couple of others have had the same idea. The fact that I decided on that name 20 years ago means little as I have no real way to prove that.

I've begun reading a book on selling handcrafted goods and realized that if the market wasn't already flooded by kittens-that-knit (and thankfully it appears not to be) then there was no time like the present to begin increasing my digital foothold and hopefully gain some name recognition as well.

What I have to work with

This was my "Wall-O-Handspun" in our former home. For some reason I never got around to photographing the baskets of yarn "cakes" that I'd wound and that took up the majority of an eight foot tall book case. To top it off, I have almost as many skeins as those pictured that need to be washed and hung now that we are in our new home. When ever I need inspiration I just look at the colors and textures represented here and it doesn't take long to think of something that at least one of these skeins wants to be.

Open For Business...sort of

This is to announce the opening of Knit'n Kitten Fiberarts studio. Well..once I've figured out (and filled out) the required paperwork for my city, county, and state that is. Hopefully that will all be done in the next month or so and then I can focus on creating and finding students.
